Ranked sixth on FORTUNE magazine’s "World’s Most Admired Companies" in the electronics industry list.

Whirlpool Corporation was named one of the top 50 U.S. companies for Social Responsibility by the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and Reputation Institute. Based on a recent survey of U.S. consumers conducted by the Reputation Institute, Whirlpool earned a rating of 72.24, ranking it 23rd on the 2009 Boston College Corporate Social Responsibility Index (CSRI). The company ranked 32nd on the 2008 list.
Named to the 2009/2010 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), an international stock portfolio that evaluates corporate performance using economic, environmental, and social criteria. This is the fifth year in a row that Whirlpool has been named to a Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Whirlpool Corporation announced its commitment to make all electronically-controlled appliances it produces – everywhere in the world – smart grid compatible by 2015.
Whirlpool Canada was named an ENERGY STAR(R) 2009 Market Transformation award winner in the category of "Manufacturer of the Year." This marks Whirlpool Canada's sixth ENERGY STAR award in seven years.
